About Me
My writing on cultural politics has been published in The New York Review of Books, Dissent, New Statesman, Apollo, The Baffler, frieze, ArtReview, Tribune, and The TLS. I have worked for openDemocracy and Wired. In 2025, I was shortlisted for the Fitzcarraldo Essay Prize for an experimental work of long-form nonfiction, a project titled Tesserae. In 2024 I finished a PhD about the life and work of Stuart Hall at Harvard University. This project was supervised by Henry Louis Gates Jr., Robert Reid-Pharr and Paul Gilroy. I am co-editing the new Norton critical edition of Du Bois’s The Souls of Black Folk (1903). Until 2028 I am a British Academy post-doctoral research fellow in English at University College London, working on a project which looks at the reparative character of different kinds of speech.
